http://www.carolconnett.com/Carol_Connett_Studio/Raptor.html Just before this painting came to me, I visited the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. The museum rekindled my fascination with medieval art—those wonderful two dimensional nativity scenes, their angles floating in a sky of gold leaf.   In this a pictorial story about reconstructing an ecologically destroyed world, a Goddess and her magical bird have returned to their planet to discover it has been completely destroyed by its foolish inhabitants. She begins to build herself wings from the remains of another, opening the door to her heart she uses her blood to glue it together. With wings she will join the bird to fly above the world and search out a way to bring it back to life.      This painting was originally conceived as the first in a series.
